Slovenia in southern
Central Europe sits between Italy, Austria, Hungary and Croatia. For centuries it belonged to the Hapsburg Empire and from 1918
on to Yugoslavia. The country became independent in the summer of 1991, and in 2004 it became an EU member; its capital city is Ljubljana. There are many
reasons to visit this town, and one of it is that it has won the European Green Capital Award.
I couldn’t wait to visit Ljubljana to see it for
myself. I planned to drive from Germany to Croatia, and I saw this as a
brilliant opportunity to stop in Ljubljana. After an online search I book a
room at the Lesar Hotel Angel. After I arrive in Ljubljana I park my car and
start my short walk towards the Hotel. As I turn around the corner I see the
Hercules fountain on Gornji trg. The "upper square" is part of the
once medieval center of Ljubljana, and at the foot of the castle hill. The
houses are predominantly in baroque style, many of them were rebuilt in the
17th and 18th centuries, but some houses even retain their medieval style. In
the long row of beautiful old town houses I see the entrance to the Lesar Hotel
Angel. As soon as I enter, a member of staff, all smiles, rushes towards me “Do
you need help with your luggage?” We walk back to my car and moments later all
my bags are in my room on the first floor.

With its contemporary interior design the 12-room Lesar Hotel Angel, is an elegantly comfortable, two storey hotel full of appealing and soothing details, such as the grey-white painted hallway and the red-carpeted-staircase. Decorative silver trunks, zebra print armchairs and huge candle lit lanterns make for the ultimate contemporary chic and create a genuine travel-feeling.
It is light, has a fantastically friendly vibe and is an ideal base for exploring Ljubljana. I can't possibly be any closer to the action since it is right in the middle of the old town and at the foot of the castle.

What I really love when I am in a hotel room is when I
don’t hear any sound from outside my room. Peace, no further noise. It is so
very quiet in my room that I start to feel like a baby who gets calmed down by
a pacifier.
The products in the bathroom are from Molton Brown, that
they are of a great quality is self-explanatory. The scent of jasmine,
honeysuckle and sandalwood lingers in the air long after I take a shower in the
airy bathroom.
Later I jump into the perfectly made bed. The only thing
I remember before I drift-off to dreamland is that I wonder how they manage to
pull the sheets so tightly around the edges. When I wake up, not only my spine
and muscles are well relaxed, I feel full of energy and fresh as a daisy.
White roses and croissants for breakfast
Breakfast is served buffet style in the lounge. The room
with its tables dressed in white table cloths, white roses and silver cutlery
is so very inviting. It reminds me of the Sunday afternoons of my childhood. I
know that I can't try all the food on offer but everything I eat is deliciously
fresh. The choice of tomatoes, cheeses, eggs, fresh fruit, cereals, jams,
honey, coffee, different teas, croissants, bread rolls ... is simply too
extensive.

Verdict Lesar Hotel Angel
I was looking for luxury accommodation in Ljubljana, and this boutique hotel impressed me with its mix of traditional architecture, contemporary style and modern comfort. Would I stay at Lesar Hotel Angel again in the future? Absolutely. Would I recommend a stay at Lesar Hotel Angel to a friend? Absolutely. You will get a very warm welcome. The Lesar Hotel Angel supported my research trip. All thoughts and the true happiness felt are my own experiences and feelings.
On a final note, please keep in mind that the hotel is in
a pedestrianized area in the historical old town of Ljubljana. This is to make
life for locals as well as for visitors better (and to preserve the town's beauty). It
is fact that you will have to walk a few minutes to reach the hotel, however,
the members of staff are more than happy to help with the luggage.
