Imagine you would be
getting lots of invitations to create people’s best and most romantic moments.
That is what Selma and André get in their job as wedding photographers. They
love photography as much as they love to travel, and they love to be by the sea
as much as they love to be in a bookshop. They tell us about public transport
options, explain where to best browse quirky shops close to the ocean, and where to buy a killer cup of coffee
in one of the most beautiful cities on earth.

Selma
and André: Vibey. Fun.
Cosmopolitan.
The Touristin: How
do you get around Cape Town?
Selma
and André: We live in the
Northern Suburbs. Sadly the public transport linkage is not in place, so I am
afraid usually by our own vehicle. If we stayed in the city bowl we would MOST
definitely use MyCiti Bus. #onedaywhenwearebig
The Touristin: What
is your favourite borough/suburb/area in Cape Town and why?
Selma
and André: Kalk Bay. We
love the fresh sea air, blue ocean, quirky shops, galleries and eateries. There
is such an eclectic mix of people about, and we kind of just feel at home
there. We always feel energized, inspired and creative after a visit.
The Touristin: The
best place for a hot chocolate or coffee in Cape Town?
Selma
and André: Yours Truly which
is situated at Once in Cape Town. Not only do they make a mean cappuccino, you
get to meet both locals and travellers from all over the globe. The vibe is
fantastic.
The Touristin: What
is one restaurant we must try out while in Cape Town?
Selma
and André: Cape Town
caters for every kind of palate, and there are so many gorgeous restaurants to choose
from. But what we really love doing is getting take away fish and chips from
Snoekies in Hout Bay and sitting along the jetty with our feet dangling over
the ocean. A word of warning – you have to be willing to share your meal with
the pesky seagulls.
The Touristin: Where
would we meet you on weekends?
Selma
and André: On a weekend
you’ll find us with a camera in hand shooting weddings at one of the
magnificent Cape Town wedding venues. If we have a day off, we love going for a
walk on the Sea Point Promenade, or having Pizza and Sundowners at the Blue Peter. Otherwise a nice braai (barbeque) with friends is always a good thing.
The Touristin: Do
you have a favourite museum/gallery we all have to visit when in Cape Town?
Selma
and André: The Two Oceans Aquarium is amazing.
The Touristin: What
are some of your favourite places to shop for A) groceries and B) clothes?
Selma and André: We’ll do our weekly shopping usually at
Pick’n Pay or Food Lovers Market. But if we have a chance we love visiting the
local neighbourgoods markets at the Old Biscuit Mill in Woodstock, and the Oude Libertas and Root 44 in Stellenbosch.
The Touristin: What
souvenir shall we bring back from Cape Town?
Selma
and André: Have a photo
shoot done at one of Cape Town’s iconic spots.
Thank you so much Selma
and André. All the best to you, many more travels and good luck with
Expressions Photography. May the best light be with you.
